Spring Cleaning – Extreme Conditions

Here is a great example of what NOT to do with your fountain. This was left out all winter, with no protection. Thankfully it survived, with a crack or two, and some minor paint damage.
Fortunately, with a bit of work it can be saved.

Using a mild soap and rag, wash the bowl, pump, and connections. Test to see that the small cracks hold water (if not, they can be fixed with epoxy putty). In this example, even though it was left out in the winter with no protection, it still held water!

While this is not recommended treatment of a fountain, it does illustrate that with a little work, even extreme issues can be fixed.

While the fountain now has more “aged” look to it, it has been restored to provide another season of enjoyment.
