Repairs with Epoxy Putty

Addressing a leak as result of a crack or pinhole, or even rebuilding a missing section of your fountain, statue or birdbath is easy with an epoxy repair putty.

Products like Oatey® Epoxy Putty work great for this purpose and are ideal for both NuCrete® and Comp-Cast® materials.  You can find this and similar epoxy putty products at most home improvement retailers (commonly located in or around the plumbing aisle).

Typically these are a 2-part clay-like material that should be mixed for 1–2 minutes, until the material is a solid consistent colour, then applied and shaped as needed.  These innovative repair materials begins to cure and harden within 3 – 5 minutes of being applied and are often ready to be sanded, filed or painted as needed after just 1 hour.

Step-by-step application overview:

1. Clean and prepare the surface. Remove all dirt, grease or debris to ensure proper adhesion.

2. Cut a section of the putty (as needed). We recommend starting with and working with smaller sections at a time.

3. Mix the material until the 2 parts are one consistent colour.

4.  Shape and apply the repair material to the affected area. Remove any excess before it hardens.

As these products may cause irritation to the skin, we recommend handling while wearing gloves. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after use. Curing time may vary by temperature.  Follow the manufacturer’s application advice for best results.
