We use Oatey brand epoxy putty, the “Fix-it Stick”, for these repairs. It is a two part “stick” that simply needs to be worked by hand to achieve a uniform color, thereby mixing the 2 parts in such a way that they bond quickly and permanently.

We are not affiliated with the Oatey company or their products, so we are unbiased in this recommendation, but it has worked well for us for years in many applications. It is available in the plumbing departments of most hardware stores for under $10.

As you can see from the repair below it can be worked into shapes quite easily, making it ideal to replace broken off, missing pieces.
It can be sanded, shaved with a knife, and sculpted with a minimum of effort, and then painted with common household or hobby paints.

In the first step, we filled the gap and let it dry while we made another shaped piece to apply over the initial fill.

The rounded piece is then fitted on to the repair and final sculpting is made to match the surrounding parts.

Using some hobby paint we had, we painted it as best we could. While not a perfect match you would be hard pressed to see the repair from 5 feet away!

If you have a hard time finding these materials, let us know and we will do our best to help you find it, or send you some for small repairs!

If the part is broken off “cleanly” (meaning it fits in nicely) it should be an was fix. Be sure the components are clean and free from any loose particles. A light sanding is always a good idea to “rough it up” a little so it accepts the glue better.
Simply apply the glue lightly to each side of the repair.

While this repair may show a small crack, it is still very functional. Other repairs may require some epoxy putty to seal small cracks and fill areas with small hokes. Please see our “making repairs with epoxy putty” page.

The repair below was to the inner twist and lock part, as it was forced on too hard. However, it fit back well and works nicely.

Please review these recommendations to help make your setup as easy as possible.

Intended Use:
This fountain is designed for outdoor use. While it can be used indoors, there will be moisture generated in the surrounding area. Therefore, care should be taken to use only in areas where water will not cause damage to hardwood floors, carpet, etc. It should also not be used indoors in areas of frequent foot traffic, as the moisture will cause slippery surfaces. Pumps should always be plugged into a grounded GFCI receptacle.

Pump Care:
We recommend that you run the pump in a bucket of water first, to "prime the pump" and insure proper operation. These pumps should be cleaned regularly to insure long life. The diagram below shows proper disassembly procedures. You should also be aware that these pumps ahould always be completely submersed in water for proper operation, as low water levels may cause burnout, and void your warranty.

Winter Care:
Please be advised that these units are designed for outdoor use during the spring, summer and fall months. Harsh Canadian winter conditions are not suitable for use. The unit should be stored properly, with all water removed, inside the house, garage, or shed to insure long life. The pump must be drained of all water, and cleaned as necessary.
