Intended Use and Care for pumps

Please review these recommendations to help make your setup as easy as possible.

Intended Use:
This fountain is designed for outdoor use. While it can be used indoors, there will be moisture generated in the surrounding area. Therefore, care should be taken to use only in areas where water will not cause damage to hardwood floors, carpet, etc. It should also not be used indoors in areas of frequent foot traffic, as the moisture will cause slippery surfaces. Pumps should always be plugged into a grounded GFCI receptacle.

Pump Care:
We recommend that you run the pump in a bucket of water first, to “prime the pump” and insure proper operation. These pumps should be cleaned regularly to insure long life. The diagram below shows proper disassembly procedures. You should also be aware that these pumps ahould always be completely submersed in water for proper operation, as low water levels may cause burnout, and void your warranty.

Winter Care:
Please be advised that these units are designed for outdoor use during the spring, summer and fall months. Harsh Canadian winter conditions are not suitable for use. The unit should be stored properly, with all water removed, inside the house, garage, or shed to insure long life. The pump must be drained of all water, and cleaned as necessary.

We are not affiliated with the Oatey company or their products, so we are unbiased in this recommendation, but it has worked well for us for years in many applications. It is available in the plumbing departments of most hardware stores for under $10.

As you can see from the repair below it can…
